Here at TerraGold Plus, we discuss a lot about the benefits of full spectrum hemp CBD extract and how it can aid in relieving many health ailments.  We strongly believe that CBD grown from the hemp plant can be a natural addition to help gain control of some issues you may be experiencing. CBD can help with pain, inflammation, anxiety, cramping, and many more.

We have talked about how CBD interacts with the endocannabinoid system to help boost your brain, nervous, and immune systems in you your body. At TGP, we strongly believe plants can be a great source for medicine and CBD from hemp is one piece of gaining optimal health.

For many centuries different cultures have used plants, herbs, and minerals found in nature as their means for healing basic and more severe ailments.  As explorers opened up the world and trade became more prevalent, herbal remedies and herbs were exchanged between the Chinese, the Muslims, the Indians, and the Europeans.

New herbs like ginger, cardamom, and cinnamon began appearing in Europe. While European herbs like sage were traded in the Far East.  Further reaches into Central and South America found even more medicinal herbs that were later used to help treat major illnesses like malaria and smallpox.  Obviously, these herbs were more available and modern medicine was not as advanced as it is today, but many of the currently prescribed drugs were once found in nature.  The current prescription drugs have been further synthesized and chemically altered in order to mass produce it and become more readily available.

In recent years, the opioid epidemic has become a major issue.  According to the Health and Human Services department that over 113 people die every day due to opioids.  That is over 40,000 people per year. This is an obvious crisis that needs to be addressed.  The positive side is that this is a wake-up call and more doctors are seeking further education on alternatives to prescription drugs like CBD.

CBD is naturally found in the cannabis (commonly known as marijuana or hemp) plant. At TerraGold Plus, we only use CBD found from industrial hemp plants.  CBD is one of around 60 known cannabinoids found in the plant. Cannabinoids are beneficial compounds that can provide a lot of healing benefits. The most famous source of cannabinoids is hemp/marijuana. However, you can also find them in common foods that you may have in your kitchen.

Cannabinoids exist in these other foods:

  • Black Pepper
  • Rosemary
  • Echinacea
  • Cacao
  • Maca
  • Kava
  • Black truffles
  • Flax seeds

Pretty amazing, right?  Mother nature has a way of offering so many benefits!

You may have seen our previous blog post about what full spectrum hemp oil means. In short, full spectrum hemp oil means that the concentrated oil is packed full of cannabinoids and terpenes.

Terpenes are also naturally formed in plants and vegetables and offer their unique healing ability.  Besides giving your fruits and vegetables some of their fragrance, they also work hand in hand with cannabinoids to better stimulate those CB1 and CB2 receptors in your endocannabinoid system. Just like cannabinoids, you can probably find some terpenes in your kitchen right now!

Here are some terpenes and common foods that contain them:

  • Myrcene: in mango, bay leaves, and lemongrass
  • Limonene: in peppermint, rosemary and fruit rinds.
  • Monoterpenes: Lemons, oranges, grapefruit, caraway, bergamot, peppermint, spearmint, dill, tomatoes
  • Diterpenes: Carrots, spinach, pumpkin, broccoli, mango, papaya, cherries, tomatoes, oranges, cabbage, watermelon, lettuce
  • Triterpenoids: Olives, mangos, strawberries, grapes, figs
  • Chromanols: Almonds, walnuts
  • Carotenoids: Tomatoes, oranges, carrots, peas, sprouts, greens

There are over 200 terpenes found thus far and scientists continue to do research on the benefits of terpenes and other plants to be used as medicine.  If you want to get more terpenes and/or cannabinoids in your diet, then you can by eating more fruits and vegetables. Adding more plants and fruits is an additional way to help relieve issues you may be experiencing.

Let’s face it, we all know that your health is so important to your everyday success and happiness.  If you are in chronic pain or have constant stress your body will continue to work extra hard to regulate you and try and bring you back to homeostasis.  In order to protect your brain and body, you need to give it the right fuel. Remember the old saying you are what you eat? That can’t be more true. An occasional pint of ice cream might soothe whatever ails you emotionally or you might find great joy in sharing it with your kids.  However, over-indulgence will create a situation where your body doesn’t have the proper nutrients that it needs to keep you healthy and balanced.

You may do an excellent job in eating right, but you still have may experience issues with your health and mood.  Noticing what you eat and when may help you gain better control of your overall health. Food can be a source of great joy to you and your family.  Coming together as a family or with friends to share a meal provides that community and togetherness we all inherently crave. The good news is that when you are creating meals you can use these ingredients knowing that they taste good, but also provide healing properties:

  • Cinnamon, Turmeric – anti-inflammatory
  • Ginger – reduces nausea
  • Mushrooms – supports the immune system
  • Avocados, olive oil, coconut oil – Good fats that help reduce the risk of heart disease
  • Beets – increases energy

Dr. Mercola goes into detail about the various foods that support your gut health, immune system, and foods that support you while pregnant or as preventative measures. It’s also important to know where your food is produced.  Getting foods that are grown from rich soil from quality seeds only adds to the quality and health benefits. Foods grown from rich soil adds nutrients to the plant that allows it to be healthier and provide more direct nutrients to you.  These nutrients can be nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium along with a host of minor nutrients.

Your body’s ability to fight off illness, reduce inflammation, or relieve anxiety starts with how you treat it.  Supporting your body with healthy and nutrient-rich foods is a great starting point for a stronger endocannabinoid system that promotes a stronger gastrointestinal, nervous, and immune system.

However, we also understand that your body may need some extra help from time to time and food can’t do it alone. Adding proper supplements like CBD, vitamins, and probiotics will help keep your body working well and balanced.  As with food, understanding where these supplements come from and ensuring that the products are the highest quality is extremely important.
