Dogs and cats alike are so important to all members of the family and, let’s face it, we know who really takes care of the family dog. You. Yes, your kids love the dog and want to carry her around and sleep with her, but when it’s time to take her for a long walk or get her the medicine she needs it comes down to you.

You try and buy good food for the dog and make sure it remains healthy. Because she is a family member and who looks after the family? You do.

The question is — have you tried using CBD oil for your dog or cat?

All mammals have an endocannabinoid system and therefore respond well when CBD is introduced.  CBD is non-toxic and will not get your fuzzy companion stoned. What it will do is offer relaxing pain relief for any joint pain that they may be experiencing.

Most pets, especially dogs, are very active.  They sprint all over the yard to sniff the latest smells, jump on the furniture, excitedly greet your house guests and never say no to a good, long walk. As a result, their joints can get worked extremely hard.

When your pup begins to age, she begins to move a little slower and perhaps doesn’t jump up onto the furniture quite so easily. You can start to long for the days when she was a ball of energy and miss your old pal and her vigor for life. Luckily, CBD can help.  CBD is a natural anti-inflammatory that not just works to reduce pain, but also decreases inflammation in those joints or arthritic areas.

What CBD does is attach itself to the CB1 and CB2 receptors in the endocannabinoid system.  This connection helps awaken those receptors in your pet’s brain, nervous and immune systems.  The bond between the CBD and the body’s natural ability to heal increases the rate and response of the receptors in your body.

The benefits of giving CBD to your pet is that it helps relieve symptoms caused by the following:

  • Separation anxiety
  • Pain
  • Inflammation
  • Joint issues
  • Nausea
  • Seizures
  • And more…

Your dog will not speak with you and tell you how it is feeling which makes it really difficult to know when to give her CBD. A lot of people are using CBD in connection with their exercise routines. CBD can be very beneficial to people before and after lengthy workouts. The same can be said for your dog! As you come in the door after your next long walk, it’s a great time to grab your CBD oil and give your dog a few drops to help her joints recover.

You might not think to use CBD for your pets until they have health issues. But CBD can be extremely effective in reducing the chance of inflammation. Your pet is active.  We know our little Maltipoo is on constant alert. That 8-pound dog is on high patrol watching our house. No squirrel, mailman, or neighbor can come into the yard without our dog running and jumping at the window and alerting the world. This constant quick response increases her heart rate, blood pressure, and puts pressure on her body. Now, our dog isn’t unhealthy, but we know that this constant strain may cause inflammation to occur later in life.  That is one reason we give CBD to our dog.

There are a lot of CBD products for pets available in the market such as treats and full spectrum hemp oils. The TerraGold Plus Paws formula is made from full spectrum hemp oil.  This means we keep as many cannabinoids as possible.  The more cannabinoids and terpenes available, the more optimal benefits the oil will offer to your pet.  We use organic MCT oil from coconut as a carrier oil to add necessary fatty acids that help protect your pet’s brain and cognitive functioning.

What is the right amount of CBD to give to my pet?

To determine the appropriate amount of CBD oil to give your pet, please be mindful of the size of the animal and the potential ailments you are looking to help relieve.  At TerraGold Plus, we believe that dosing is not a one size fits all affair, so we tell our human customers that the best approach is to be mindful and listen to your body. Unfortunately, this is a lot harder when you’re dealing with animals and they can’t speak to tell you how they’re feeling! So, when giving CBD oil to your pets, starting out slowly and working up is a better method.

Depending on the size of the animal, you can give a small does a few times a day rather than one large dose.  Of course, you should watch your pet for signs of a reaction and how well they respond to the CBD.

As you can see we recommend smaller doses throughout the day.  Especially for more anxious pets, providing several smaller doses will be more beneficial than one large dose.

To give your animal a dose, simply shake the bottle well and follow the suggested dose based on the product purchased.  Our small to medium breed bottle is 250mg and one dropper fill is 10mg. The medium to large breed offering is 20mg / dropper fill.

Our tests have shown that animals enjoy the taste and will easily lick the oil out of the dropper.  They will see it as a treat and will gladly take it. If for some reason, you have a fussy patient, you can drop the oil onto a treat or roll it in with some food.

Here at TGP, we believe that your pet is part of your family and it is our goal to help not just you, but all the people you care for.  Shop TerraGold Plus Paws here.
